From a young age, Alex “Chef Blei” Bleiweis has enjoyed cooking. One of the first dishes he enjoyed making was a cinnamon roll recipe from an Emeril Lagasse cookbook.
As an adult, Chef Blei continued to cook, whether it be a sandwich, a scampi or even the occasional dessert. His roster of cooking equipment would expand over time, as he would buy a 360 griddle and a smoker, giving him more reasons to try new things in the kitchen. Like any millennial, he would post his cooking accomplishments onto his personal Instagram page, much to the delight of his family and friends.
It was during the COVID-19 pandemic when the phenomenon known as “Chef Blei” truly came to life. On Instagram Stories, Chef Blei would film an introduction and then show how he made the featured dish. During his first and only Instagram Live to date, in April 2020, Chef Blei cracked an egg with a double yolk.
In September 2020, Chef Blei made a dedicated Instagram account for his cooking endeavors.
Some of Chef Blei’s inspirations include Pasquale Sciarappa, Sam the Cooking Guy, Jaymee Sire and Andrew Rea, aka Babish.
Chef Blei lives in Maryland with his wife, Mrs. Chef Blei; his son, Sous-Chef Blei and their dog and two cats.
